Pioneering Prostate Cancer Test Offers 94% Accuracy and Reduces Unnecessary Biopsies

A recent press release - A revolutionary diagnostic test, the EpiSwitch PSE, now offers a significant improvement in prostate cancer testing accuracy, boosting predictive accuracy from 55% to 94%. Goodbody Clinic, in partnership with Oxford BioDynamics, is making this test available at over 140 locations across the UK.

Prostate cancer is a concern for many men. Some choose to have a second or repeat PSA (prostate specific antigen) test, but with 55% accuracy, this is not the answer. 3 in 4 men with a high PSA do not have cancer.

A revolutionary diagnostic test, the EpiSwitch PSE, now offers a significant improvement in prostate cancer testing accuracy, boosting predictive accuracy from 55% to 94%. Goodbody Clinic, in partnership with Oxford BioDynamics, is making this test available at over 140 locations across the UK.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, affecting one in eight men in the UK. The EpiSwitch PSE test, used alongside a standard PSA test, measures five epigenetic biomarkers to deliver highly accurate results. This minimizes the need for unnecessary biopsies and accelerates treatment for patients.

Dr. Mathias Winkler, Consultant Urologist at Charing Cross Hospital and Imperial College London, praises the EpiSwitch PSE for its unprecedented accuracy and its potential to reduce false-positive results, thereby avoiding unnecessary invasive procedures.

The EpiSwitch PSE test, a result of nearly ten years of collaborative research, demonstrates high specificity (97%) and sensitivity (86%), offering robust predictive values. Men can request the test at any Goodbody Clinic location or opt for a nurse visit at home. Test results are available within 3-5 working days, and positive results are promptly referred to an oncologist.

George Thomas, CEO of Goodbody Clinic says “We are delighted to be able to make this ground-breaking test available to men across the UK via our network of clinics. The EpiSwitch PSE test allows us to continue to advance our commitment to providing accessible, high-quality diagnostic testing by combining the latest innovations with access to Goodbody’s convenient clinic network”

The test costs £905 and can be booked at Goodbody Clinic https://health.goodbodyclinic.com/product/episwitch-pse-advanced-blood-test/
